Born February 17, 1945, to Carl and Phyllis Brock in Mansfield, OH, he died of Alzheimer’s disease on May 31, 2021. Bill graduated from North Hills Highschool, Pittsburgh, PA in 1963. He went on to graduate with a degree in aeronautical engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, IN in 1966.
He joined the air force in 1967. After serving a tour of duty at Wright Patterson air force base, he earned an MBA in finance from Akron University. He worked in management at TRW in Cleveland, OH, at GE Engines in Lynn, MA, and at Ceilcote Airpollution in Strongsville, OH.
Bill’s passion was sailing on Lake Erie, OH and Saylorville Lake in Iowa. He met his wife, Elizabeth Owens through sailing. They enjoyed 28 years together.
While living in Des Moines, Bill was very proud of his volunteer work with Iowa Sister States and his position as a docent at the World Food Prize. He received state and national awards for his activities, including a Hero’s of the Heartland award from the Red Cross for saving a life.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, his daughter, Heather (Alex) Moise, and three grandchildren, Adam, Maggie and George of Canada, his sister, Judi Rogers, nephew, Dan Pond and family of Grand Junction, CO, niece, Dr. Kere Hughes Belding and family of Iowa.
The family thanks Aspen Ridge Care Center and Hope West of Grand Junction for the excellent care they provided to Bill. Memorial gifts can be made to a non profit of your choice.
