Marjorie Leonard Obituary

Marjorie R. Leonard, “Miss Marge” was born in Winterset, Iowa October 10, 1947, after a battle with Subungual Melanoma, she passed into her Savior's arms on October 4th, 2021.
Majorie lived life to the fullest. She left Winterset, Iowa in 1972 seeking new adventures in Colorado Springs, CO. Within a few years, she leaned into finding a vocation. Soon..she became one of the first female welders in the Colorado Springs area and would live out this career for 43+ years. Making friends, and joining Rustic Hills Baptist Church helped make Colorado Springs her home. The city offered numerous opportunities to grow through being a mom to her daughter A’lanne (Lannie), teaching Sunday school, working, cooking for several church functions and growing spiritually through church. She took on the name of “Miss Marge'' while teaching Sunday school, a name that is endearing to all who know her. Numerous lives were touched by Miss Marge. She opened her home, her automobile, and her heart to everyone. She was known as the chauffeur for her daughter's friends to and from sporting events and practice, concert practice, AWANA, church and VBS. Miss Marge was very creative; Creating clothing for her daughter, sewing and crocheting for Warm Heart~Warm Babies, making monthly crafts to hang on the doors of the tenants in her apartment building. Volunteering at the “Hive” HopeWest Hospice center, and gathering people to join her for Taco- Bell every Sunday. She was a strong supporter of Christain Missionaries and was one herself, in her own backyard. After retirement in 2016 she made her home in Grand Junction, Colorado to be close to A'lanne and Jon. She continued to touch lives and be the joy in their day. One favorite tradition continued: Attending church followed by gathering women at Taco Bell “The Bell” for lunch every week. Miss Marge was always offering a helping hand or her presence to listen and share time with others. Empathy was one of her strong suits. Simple contentment she relished. Always ready to cast a positive light and embrace hope.
She is survived by her daughter A’lanne (Lannie) and son-in-Love Jon Conrad. Sisters Mary and Virginia and Brother James (Bud). Cousins Skip, Kris (Linda) and Kurt (Lori) We ask that you Honor Miss Marge every year on October 10th, by attending church and then grab 2-3 people to join you for lunch at taco bell “The Bell”
