Judith Samuelson Obituary

Judith Ann Samuelson

Nani Grandma Judi

December 10, 1941-June 23, 2019

Judith Ann Samuelson, 77, was born in Grand Junction, CO, to Walter and Marie Hoppert. She passed away in Grand Junction, CO on Sunday, June 23, 2019. She attended Cathedral High School and then went on to St. Cloud State University. Judi married David Samuelson June 16, 1962 in Sartell, MN.

Dave and Judi had two sons, Mark and Jeffrey. Judi had eight grandchildren. Mark (Shannon) have Michael, Alex, Lauren, and Emma, all of Craig, CO, and Celsiee of Utah. Jeffrey has three sons; Thor, Tate and Quin, all of Castle Rock, CO. Judi worked hard throughout the years and had many career paths. One of her jobs included working at Hostess-the boys loved when she would bring home Ding Dongs and Twinkies and put them in the freezer for a cold summer treat when the boys were young. She owned her own travel agency in Castle Rock and traveled the world during her lifetime. She helped get her sons involved in Commercial Real Estate by facilitating their purchase of the building her travel agency was located in the mid 1990’s. She also enjoyed working alongside Dave at Samuelson True Value in Craig and Castle Rock, she was tough on shoplifters even at her 5’2” stature, you didn’t mess with her, but she loved all her customers that regularly came in the business to see her. In more recent years, their winters included time in Green Valley, AZ. Judi spent free time traveling, golfing, watching her grandkids' activities, and doing photography. She was still taking Boxing classes through June of 2019. Judi was an avid volunteer, as well. She spent time working in soup kitchens, tutoring children, working with Head Start children, and skiing and working with people with disabilities, in addition to many other activities. Judi's laughter was contagious and often led to laughing so hard there were tears! That, among so many other things, will be missed!

Judi is survived by her husband, David, her two sons, Mark (Shannon) of Craig, CO, and Jeffrey of Castle Rock, CO, eight grandchildren, three sisters; her identical twin, Jeanne Tipton of MN, Linda Hoppert of OR, Marlene Kenny of MN, and two brothers; Rick (Merry) Hoppert of MN, David (Jeanette) Hoppert of MN, and multiple nieces and nephews. Judi was preceded in death by her parents.

Judi loved happy hour and in honor of it, we will have a Happy Hour Celebration at Vallartas Mexican Restaurant, July 7th, from 4-6 pm in Craig, CO.
