Dorothy L (Heinze) Pope

Dorothy Louise Pope of Palisade passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, September 3, 2018. Dorothy was born in Windsor, Colorado on April 29, 1938 to Henry and Lydia Heinze. She grew up in the Windsor area and in 1960 she married Robert Pope. They had three children, Karen, Bryan, and Tricia. Dorothy was a homemaker while the children were growing up and was later employed as a florist and then as a safe deposit attendant at a Greeley bank.  She and Robert moved to Palisade in 1994 where they have lived and operated a successful peach orchard since.  

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who put her family above all else. There is nothing she wouldn’t have done for a member of her family. Dorothy was an excellent cook,  she was very creative and always  full of wisdom. She was always willing to take time to listen to anyone who asked for her advice.  Pope’s Orchard was Dorothy’s pride and joy where she played a very active role in the overall operation. Many special friendships have been made as a result of the orchard. She has created a lifetime of wonderful memories for all whose lives she has touched.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert, of 58 years, children Karen Falconburg (Jeff), Bryan Pope (Carrie),  and Tricia Brady (Herb), grand children Jennifer Nettik (James), Kathy Wagner, Lauren Falconburg,  and Leslie Wagner.  Sisters Arlene Buxbaum and Margie Meyer (Ed).  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lydia Heinze and an infant sister Mary Ann.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Grand Valley Funeral Home, 2935 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction, with reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Grand Valley Funeral Home.
