Shaun Marie Anderson Hood September 17, 1967-June 11, 2017 Shaun Marie Anderson Hood, 49, of Collbran passed away June 11, 2017 in her home. She was born September 17, 1967 in Collbran, CO to Leo and Ann Spence Anderson. She was a waitress for over 25 years and team drove semi tractor trailers with her husband Phil all across the country. Shaun was a resident of Collbran most of her life. She graduated from Plateau Valley School where she participated in sports and played saxophone, playing the bass in Jazz and tenor in Marching band. She was a long time 4-H member raising steers and became a champion knitter. Shaun continued to knit beautiful sweaters that she herself and family wore. After high school, she attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO for one year. Shaun’s interests included listening to “good” country music such as Don Williams, George Jones, and George Strait, and spending time with family and friends. Shaun was very proud of her son and loved watching Matthew play sports in school and thoroughly enjoyed making the yearly trips to robotics competitions where she supported Plateau Valley High School. She was known as the “’baker-pie maker” of her family and spoiled them at Thanksgiving and Christmas with an extra assortment of homemade rolls, apple, cherry, pumpkin and pecan pies. During Shaun's younger years she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her dad, and continued to enjoy fishing with her family. Shaun courageously battled cancer for five years and although it slowed her down at times she continued to find enjoyment in connecting with friends on Facebook, her winter bowling league, and was so excited for spring and grateful for Phil to set up her eight hummingbird feeders. Shaun is survived by her husband Phil and their son Matthew Hood. Other survivors include her mother Ann Anderson and sister Toni and husband Rick, nephews Jordan (Veann) and Kane Gunther. She was preceded in death by her father Leo Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Collbran Congregational Church, 2003 High Street, Collbran, Colorado 81624. Arrangements under the direction of Grand Valley Funeral Homes, Grand Junction Chapel.
