Carl Sydney Mossberger

Carl Sydney Mossberger Jr.: Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend,                                                                                                                               January 14, 1956-December 11, 2019

       Carl was born in Denver, Colorado to Carl Sr. and June Mossberger, January 14, 1956. He was the seventh child of eleven children. He made his home between Denver, Rifle and Palisade throughout his life, and is a true Colorado native. Nothing made him happier in life than when casting a fishing line out on the river. He was a hard worker and a jack-of-all-trades: from lugging beef, cutting trees, working in the family doughnut shop; owning and renting houses and working on automobiles. Carl was very resourceful and clever, doing whatever it took to "make a dime".

      Carl met Kim Ashton in Denver, where they had three children: Amber (Whitefield), Adam and Timothy, along with five grandchildren. Carl loved taking his children outdoors. He taught them how to ride bikes, fish, shoot, swim, explore and love nature.The best memories were the unplanned stops from Denver to Palisade to fish and explore. Just five years ago Carl rekindled with his Junior High School sweetheart, Susan. They have enjoyed each others' company and have really enjoyed the pleasures of retirement and gardening at their home in Palisade, Colorado. They loved getting visitors and showing off their "green thumbs".

       Even though his age was taking a toll on his body, Carl was still a kid at heart. Nothing made him happier than being outdoors. He loved sitting out on his front porch with his dog at his side and talking about life to anyone that would listen. When the grandkids would visit, he would insist on going outdoors to do something with them; fishing, picking peaches or just watching them play outside. Carl is survived by his wife Susan; Daughter-Amber Whitefield; Sons: Adam Mossberger (Nikki), and Timothy Mossberger. Grandchildren: Brendan, Saige, Addison, Airianna and Evelynn. Siblings: Larry Mossberger, Tonia Mossberger, Becky Mossberger, Terry Stephens, Tina Lipinski and Jodi Bentz; 135 nephews and nieces, as well as many other relatives and friends.

      Preceding him in death are his parents, Carl Sr. and June Mossberger; Brother, Roger Mossberger; Sisters: Carla Mossberger, Gloria Sanchez and Deana Patterson. Carl will be truly missed by his children, family and friends, all.

Memorial service information is still being discussed at this time, but we are thinking about waiting until the summer so the family can get together outdoors and celebrate his life the way he lived it......fishing!
