Many people do not realize the importance of a funeral service for everyone who has experienced a loss. It is an important step in a healthy grieving process. A funeral service is more than just a gathering of family and friends to say goodbye to a loved one, it is an opportunity to celebrate and remember a life well lived

The type of service you choose for yourself or a loved one is an important and very personal decision. At Grand Valley Funeral Homes, our dedicated and professional staff will explain the funeral process, show you the various options available and assist you with designing a service that truly reflects the spirit of one precious life. As each family has its own traditions and desires, it is our goal to do whatever possible to make this difficult time as comforting and healing as it can be.

We also, do our very best to offer the most affordable cremation and burial services in the Grand Valley.  But should you find that we do not currently offer the best price for the type of service and merchandise you seek, please share that information with us and we will do everything possible to assist your financial needs.

Traditional Service

A traditional funeral service includes a viewing or visitation, a formal funeral service (at the funeral home, local church or location of your choice) and the use of transportation services, such as a hearse to transport the body to the funeral site and cemetery. It is customary to offer items such as a memorial register book, memorial folders and acknowledgment cards, and are available for purchase. Floral tributes are often displayed and you are encouraged to bring in photographs, slideshow, music and other memorabilia to further personalize the service.

Graveside Service
A graveside service is held at the burial site. This service may be limited to the immediate family or open to all. After the burial service, there are options for a memorial service at the funeral home chapel, church or venue of choice.

Memorial Service
A memorial service can be conducted with or without the body present and can vary in ceremony and tradition. It may be held at the funeral home or at a location of your choice. In order to create a memorial service that is as unique as your loved one, we encourage you to help personalize the service with memorabilia, photographs and other personal items. A memorial service can be scheduled to take place at a later date, at the convenience of the family.

Cremation Options
For those considering cremation as an alternative to traditional burial, there is still the option of having a "celebration of Life" service or traditional memorial service.  We offer many cremation service packages that could include embalming, visitation, and church or chapel service to be followed by cremation. For our patrons who may be interested in a casket viewing prior to a service, there are a line of wood caskets designed for rental options. These caskets are offered in place of a standard casket and can offer the family the comfort of a visitation and/or viewing.

We also arrange direct cremations, which do not include memorial services or visitation. This is frequently a choice of families requiring a more economical option for final disposition.

Regardless of the type of arrangement a family chooses, we are committed to walking with you through the process.
